about
ABOUT:
The Lake tells the story of a search party looking for a 7-year-old girl who has been missing for three months. A woman in the search party notices something purposefully weighed down at the bottom of a lake. It's the girl they've been looking for, eyes open, reaching upward.
Weeks later, the woman struggles to cope, and her life becomes divided cleanly in two: before she found the body and after. This is what trauma does: folds our lives in half discretely. The woman wonders if she can ever leave her house again or whether she can step outside to face the world and all its tragedies.

LYRICS:
"I saw your face at the bottom.
I saw your face at the bottom of the lake.
Should I reclaim this space?
Scrub the fabric and the floors, lock the doors, and hide inside the walls.
Should I forget your name?
Might be a little better than before and after."
